NOTE: This information from the pilot who designed the wing logo. "When I was hired in 1977, it was the first year for the hat. The wing was worn on the hat, and the L.A.B. Flying Service tag was worn on the jacket."

The airline was established and started operations in 1956. It operated scheduled, charter and sightseeing flights in the Alexander Archipelago in Souheast Alaska in Souheast Alaska. Though its main base was Haines Airport, it established a hub at Juneau International Airport. L.A.B. Flying Service, was named for its founder (and President), Layton A. Bennett. The airline was Alaska's oldest continuously-operating small passenger airline. Layton A. Bennett received the Federal Aviation Administration's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for his work in operating the airline for over 50 years. L.A.B. had 55 employees as of March 2007. The airline ceased operations July 24, 2008.
